I have been asked by a student if there are any free DTP application that would give a good start to using the application.
Serif do a wide range of applications and among them PagePlus SE which is completely free (http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/PagePlus/default1.asp?SP=G305_UK&gclid=CL-5kcznspMCFQGmQwoddDxVow).
